Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of StartEase Payroll, provided by StartEase Agent LLC. By accepting an invitation or signing in, you agree to them. Your plan or order, if you have one, adds to these terms.
1. The service
StartEase Payroll calculates payroll and taxes, checks each payroll against federal and state rules, tracks deposits, filings and deadlines, and keeps records. StartEase does not pay your employees or contractors. The employer pays its people from its own bank. Tax deposits are made by the employer from its own EFTPS account or, where the employer is on Managed payroll, signs IRS Form 8655 and chooses it, by StartEase as its authorized agent, which also files for it.
2. Accounts
Accounts are by invitation. Keep your password private, use a strong one, and tell us at once if you think it was exposed. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
3. Your responsibilities
- Give accurate and complete information, and keep it up to date.
- Review and approve each payroll. An approved payroll is final and is corrected only in a later payroll.
- Pay employees and, unless StartEase is your authorized agent for deposits, pay taxes on time.
- Collect and keep the forms the law requires, such as Form W-4 and Form I-9, and send agency notices to us.
- Use the service lawfully, and do not interfere with it or try to reach data you are not allowed to see.
4. Our responsibilities
We provide the service with reasonable care, keep rules and rates based on official sources, and protect your data as described on our security page and in our Privacy Policy. Rates and rules change; the platform does not update a rate by itself, and relies on notices and settings entered from official sources.
5. Fees
Fees are set in your plan or order. Taxes, penalties and interest owed to an agency are not our fees.
6. Your data
You own your data. You allow us to use it only to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy. Some records must be kept by law, so we cannot delete a company that has an approved payroll or a recorded filing.
7. Not legal or tax advice
The platform and its help articles explain how payroll rules are applied. They are general information. Ask a licensed adviser about your own situation.
8. Ending the service
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Records we must keep by law are kept.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, StartEase is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for a claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and disputes are heard in the courts located in New York.
11. Changes and contact
We may update these terms and will post the new version here. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept it. Questions: hi@starteaseai.com.
